Hardkernel’s ODROID platform has a unique advantage over other similar Single Board Computers (SBCs) that they allow the eMMC module to be removed and reflashes using an external USB adapter. All of Hardkernel’s eMMC modules ship with an SD card adapter that allow the user to flash an operating system or inspect the contents of the solid state drive on another computer using utilities such as Etcher or dd. However, the SD card adapter required that another adapter be used in order to access the drive via USB, and many SD to USB adapters were not compatible with Hardkernel’s adapter. ▶

Blackouts are not just annoying, but cause a series of problems impacting almost all aspects of modern life, so after months in the dark, I took the plunge an built a small solar power system. The ODROID C2 has a 64-bit quad-core ARM CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and support eMMC for storage. It is one of the most powerful SBCs in the market in its price range. With this in mind, I set out to convert some of my existing ODROID and SBCs to replace the common servers and computers I normally use. ▶
The ODROID-C1/C1+, ODROID-C2, and ODROID-XU4 have on-board GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) pins that allow the control of external devices through software. In order to access the GPIO port properly, you must install the Android Marshmallow version 2.8 image or higher on the ODROID-C2, the Android KitKat version 3.2 image or ▶
SBC water cooling is not new and others have implemented designs using off the shelf components for the ODROID-XU4 and other SBC. Some implementations have already been covered in ODROID Magazine in the past.
